United Nations approves consultative status for Ambassador Brinker’s organization, Susan G. Komen for the Cure

On August 16, the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) granted Special Consultative Status to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.  Ambassador Nancy Brinker founded Susan G. Komen for the Cure in 1982. Special Consultative Status enables key actors in civil society to play an active role in informing UN activities.

“This accreditation allows Komen to further share our knowledge and experience with the UN to address a growing cancer crisis in low-resource nations, and we are grateful for this recognition,” said Ambassador Brinker. “We look forward to working with [ECOSOC] to make even more substantive contributions toward fighting breast cancer around the world.”
