Event: Ambassadors Roundtables

Ambassadors Roundtable with the Ambassador of Canada

The Council of American Ambassadors held its final Ambassadors Roundtable of 2012 on Wednesday, November 14 in the Dining Room of DACOR Bacon House in Washington, DC. The Ambassador of Canada, His Excellency Gary Doer, was the guest speaker. Given our nations’ shared history and the strong bilateral relationship, it was particularly appropriate to have with us Canada’s chief diplomat in the United States.

Ambassador Robinson introduced Ambassador Doer, a thrice-elected Premier of Manitoba who became Canada’s Ambassador to the United States in October 2009. Following Ambassador Doer’s formal remarks, Ambassador Lloyd N. Hand, co-chair of the Ambassadors Roundtable program, led a question and answer session. Questions from Ambassadors Sue M. Cobb, Richard T. McCormack, Timothy L. Towell, Bruce S. Gelb, G. Philip Hughes, Thomas L. Siebert and Gilbert A. Robinson covered a range of issues.

Earlier that day, Ambassador Doer and Ambassadors Sue M. Cobb, Timothy A. Chorba and Gordon Giffin joined State Department officials and other guests at the ceremony to honor David C. Jacobson, the United States Ambassador to Canada and recipient of this year’s Sue M. Cobb Award for Exemplary Diplomatic Service.
