Ogden Reid

Ogden Reid is Chairman Emeritus of the Council of American Ambassadors. Mr. Reid was a member of several corporate Boards, including GP Strategies and General Physics. He is formerly Vice Chairman of GTS Duratek and a Director of Royce Labs. From 1953-1959, he was President and Editor of both the New York Herald Tribune, Inc. and the New York Herald Tribune S.A.

Between 1959 and 1961, Mr. Reid served as the United States Ambassador to Israel. He chaired the New York State Commission for Human Rights in 1961. As a Member of the United States Congress from 1961-1974, Mr. Reid served on the Foreign Affairs, Education and Labor, and Government Operations Committees. He was a candidate for Governor of New York in 1974 and later became Commissioner of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.

A graduate of Yale University, he was a First Lieutenant of Parachute Infantry in World War II and first President of the 11th Airborne Division Association. He is married to Mary Louise Reid, formerly President of AGB, the Association of Governing Boards of Colleges and Universities. They have six children.
