CAA Welcomes Ambassador Keith Harper

The Council of American Ambassadors welcomes Ambassador Keith Harper to our membership. 
WASHINGTON, June 20, 2019 - The Council of American Ambassadors is delighted to welcome Ambassador Keith Harper to our membership! Ambassador Harper served as U.S. Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Human Rights Council from 2014 to 2017. As a citizen of the Cherokee Nation, he was the first-ever member of a federally recognized Indian tribe to serve as a U.S. Ambassador. He is a Senior Non-Resident Fellow at the George Washington University Elliott School of International Affairs. He also has been appointed by the American Bar Association as Special Advisor to the ABA’s Rule of Law Initiative. In his law practice as a Partner at the law firm of Kilpatrick, Townsend & Stockton LLP, Ambassador Harper litigates on behalf of Indian tribes and assists companies to engage more effectively with the United Nations.

The Council of American Ambassadors is the association of non-career United States Ambassadors. A nonprofit and nonpartisan organization, the Council comprises around 200 members whose ambassadorial service collectively extends over five decades and eleven U.S. Presidents.
