Event: Ambassadors Roundtables

Ambassadors Roundtable with the Ambassador of Japan

The Council of American Ambassadors held its inaugural Ambassadors Roundtable luncheon in Washington, DC on June 23.

This quarterly luncheon series provides an opportunity for Council members to engage in off-the-record, meaningful dialogues with Chiefs of Foreign Missions currently accredited to the White House. Brief opening remarks by the guest speaker are followed by substantive discussion.

Ambassadors Lloyd N. Hand and Gilbert A. Robinson serve as Co-Chairs of the new Council initiative. Council President, Charles T. Manatt, commended the Co-Chairs for their efforts.

His Excellency Ichiro Fujisaki, The Ambassador of Japan, was the inaugural Ambassadors Roundtable guest speaker. It is fitting that the diplomatic representative of a key U.S. ally, Japan, was the Council’s first roundtable interlocutor. About 25 ambassadors attended the event, enabling a robust dialogue between Ambassador Fujisaki and Council member attendees. A wide variety of topics and current issues were discussed in this strictly off-the-record session. Council members greatly appreciated the opportunity to interact directly with the Ambassador.
