Event: Ambassadors Roundtables

Ambassadors Roundtable with the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea

The Council of American Ambassadors held its first Ambassadors Roundtable of 2013 on Tuesday, January 29 in the Anderson Room of the Metropolitan Club of Washington, DC. The Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, His Excellency Y.J. Choi, was the guest speaker. Given the Administration’s pivot to Asia and the recent election of the Republic of Korea’s first female president, Park Geun-hye, it was particularly timely to have with us the Republic of Korea’s chief diplomat in the United States.

Ambassador Lloyd N. Hand, co-chair of the Ambassadors Roundtable program, welcomed the attendees and introduced Ambassador Choi, who became the Republic of Korea’s Ambassador to the United States in March 2012 after several assignments with the United Nations.

Following Ambassador Choi’s formal remarks, Ambassador Gilbert A. Robinson, co-chair of the Ambassadors Roundtable program, led a question and answer session. Questions from Ambassadors Richard T. McCormack, G. Philip Hughes and Diana Lady Dougan covered a range of issues concerning the Republic of Korea’s bilateral and regional relations.
