Kathleen Sheehan, Executive Director
Kathleen joined the Council of American Ambassadors as Executive Director in 2018. Prior to coming to the Council, Kathleen worked at the Department of State as a Foreign Service Officer. She served overseas in Taipei and Shenyang and domestically in the Operations Center, on the Russia Desk and in the Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration (PRM). Kathleen started her career in Washington D.C. as a staffer in the office of Senator Joseph Lieberman. Kathleen is a board member of the John Kirby Simon Foreign Service Trust, an organization committed to encouraging community service at U.S. embassies. She received a MA from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and a BA from Smith College.
Cassia King, Communications Manager
Cassia joined the Council of American Ambassadors as Communications Manager in 2018. She previously served non-profits and small businesses as an independent contractor in social media management, graphic design and website creation. Cassia first moved to Washington, DC in 2012 and worked as a research assistant intern at the Middle East Institute and Foundation for Middle East Peace. Cassia obtained her Bachelor's Degree from Syracuse University in International Relations with concentrations in the Middle East region and international security and diplomacy. Her studies abroad to Herzliya, Nazareth and Jerusalem have allowed her in-depth insights into the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Throughout her undergraduate career, Cassia studied Arabic and Hebrew and she continues to develop her skills in these languages.
