Kathleen Sheehan, Executive Director
Kathleen joined the Council of American Ambassadors as Executive Director in 2018.  Prior to coming to the Council, Kathleen worked at the Department of State as a Foreign Service Officer.  She served overseas in Taipei and Shenyang and domestically in the Operations Center, on the Russia Desk and in the Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration (PRM).  Kathleen started her career in Washington D.C. as a staffer in the office of Senator Joseph Lieberman.  Kathleen is a board member of the John Kirby Simon Foreign Service Trust, an organization committed to encouraging community service at U.S. embassies.  She received a MA from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and a BA from Smith College.

 


Jocelyn Young, Communications and Program Manager
Jocelyn joins the Council with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from the University of California, Davis. She is pursuing her Masters degree in Statecraft and International Affairs at the Institute of World Politics in the evenings with an expected graduation date of December 2021. She is also studying French and is serving as the IWP Student Government Association's Director of Communications. She has previously acted as a communications intern for multiple nonprofits and as a teaching assistant for public speaking courses.
