Fall 2009 Conference


The Council of American Ambassadors Fall 2009 Conference was held in New York City on November 16 and 17, 2009. A Board of DIrectors meeting on the afternoon of Monday, November 16 was followed by a reception at the residence of Ambassador and Mrs. Bruce Gelb.

On Tuesday, November 17, members were briefed on Cuba and US-Cuban relations by Anthony DePalma (Writer-in-Residence, Seton Hall University) and Christopher Sabatini (Senior Director of Policy, Americas Society/Council of the Americas). Master Sergeant Scott Neil (United States Operations Command) then discussed military engagement in counterinsurgency and counterterrorism efforts.

The morning briefings were followed by a luncheon in the Diplomat Ballroom of the Millennium UN Plaza Hotel. New York City Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly offered brief remarks about counterterrorism initiatives in New York City.
